Our Interior Design Process

“Exceptional interior design doesn’t begin with a space at all—it starts with the unique people who will use and enjoy it.“

This unique master bathroom was once an old and dark kitchen in the middle of an Edwardian apartment in Central London. But by changing the layout it was transformed into a luxurious, graceful and tranquil haven, perched above the bustling London street below.

More importantly, it became a space that reflected and met the needs of its new owners.

Interior designers make spaces look nice of course, but there is so much more to it than arranging nice vases and cushions.

To us, interior design is about creating a truly unique space. Breaking the rules of how things “should” be, and instead designing around the way you want a space to be used or lived in.

If you’ve never worked with a designer before here’s a simplified summary of our process of interior design.

The Brief

We don’t start designing straight away. First we want to know who you are, we want to know your story. And how you, or your guests or customers will be using a space. We’ll talk about how you want the space to feel as well as how you want it to look. And we’ll carefully define which of our services best fits with your lifestyle, budget and time constraints. No two projects are the same so a site visit and survey helps us to create a clear project proposal.

Concept

Once the proposal is agreed we’ll use the brief to develop sketches, mood boards, colour schemes, scale drawings and 3D visuals to start to bring the designs to life. We use technical drawings for furniture layouts, lighting arrangements and floor plans. And we’ll share inspirational ideas for furniture, fixtures and fittings. It helps us to get a better understanding of your likes and dislikes, and it helps you to start making decisions on the direction you want to take.

Design Development

Now that we’ve explored and decided on the direction together, we start to refine the design and the details. By sourcing samples of proposed materials and finishes, furniture and fixtures you’ll start to understand how your space will look, and feel.

We’ll create a project timeline with a detailed proposed schedule of works so you know how things are going to progress. If needed we can produce working CAD drawings and help you to manage budgets with relevant estimates of quantities.

Technical & Specialist Design

Your approved designs are then transformed into working and joinery drawings ready for work to begin. Every area or room is shown, with elevations of walls, sketches of proposed window treatments, furnishing, cabinetry, lighting, flooring and floor plans so you can see exactly how everything will look. We keep in close contact with manufacturers and suppliers too, making sure each of our designed items such as bespoke joinery, kitchens, bathrooms, furniture and all finishes are carefully crafted and developed down to the finest details.

Installation

We’re now ready for work to start and depending on the project and your budget, we can include full project coordination within your package. This means we’ll follow the progress of the project and work closely with relevant craftsmen, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure that each stage is carried out to the highest possible standards.

We can also include styling and staging to complete the project. This might include assistance with furniture installation, final styling of accessories and furnishings or staging to make the most of the details for a photo shoot or visit.

Our complete interior design service also includes final snagging to ensure you are completely happy with the finished result.

Our holistic and more mindful approach means a result that fully reflects your needs, the best design principles and the environment. Gently guiding you through the experience and allowing you to be as hands on or off as you like.

Createa space that’s a true reflection of you by booking your design consultation.
